Short description for Dibra area

Albania’s Diber region is blessed with a stunning array of natural, cultural, and agricultural resources.

The Diber region is noted for its mountainous terrain and a variety of natural features including: rivers, valleys, glacial lakes, and dense forests. Within Diber there are two national parks: Lure National Park, and Zall Gjoçaj National Park, and a nature park: Koran Koritnik Nature Park. All three parks offer opportunities for tourists that include hiking, camping, climbing, picnicking, hunting, and various watersports.

Diber’s beautiful natural attractions are complemented by its rich culture and heritage that include six religious cultural monuments, a museum, and a castle. Two examples of the cultural monuments are the Church of the Holy Transfiguration that was established in the 12th century, and the Mosque of Allejbegi in Burim that was constructed by artisans in 1585. The Peshkopi Museum showcases a lovely collection of local costumes, carpets, housewares, and filigree jewelry providing tourists with a look into the traditional lives of Albanian life. And Grazhdani Castle, which is the largest ancient monument in Albania dating back to the 4th century and was believed to be under the control of national hero, Skanderbeg.

Additionally, the majority of Diber residents are farmers who produce a variety of foods made available in the local outdoor markets. Vendors sell locally made products that include: butter, cheese, and honey, as well as offering locally grown apples, cherries, and mountain tea.

And for those who prefer the opportunity to relax, the region also offers thermal mineral water springs where tourists may partake in the curative nature of these baths.
